Podcasting

Crossroads Community Church consists of a body of believers in Christ that invites you to come as you are. We don’t look down or judge those who can’t afford fancy clothes or a brand new car. We are interested only in helping eachother to obtain a close relationship with Jesus Christ and help those looking to find the way and understand more about who Jesus really is. We like to have fun and have ministries for all types of people and personalites from our Computer Club with gamers and our Fired up for Jesus ministry for hunters/marksman and many more other very exciting ministries.
One of the ways we can reach others is through podcasting. Podcasting is a technology that allows one to subscribe to a “feed” as a service. It’s kind of like setting the old VCR or Tivo to catch the latest episode of a TV show. The idea is you subscribe to the “RSS feed” using what’s known as an RSS agregator or “feed catcher” such as iTunes or Juice or any other myriad of programs designed for this. It really depends on what you want to do. Those who own an iPod should use iTunes. Those who own a different type of media or MP3 player might be better served by Juice or something else.
Where this really gets cool is when you pair this with a portable media player such as an iPod. Think of your iPod as having a set of subscriptions that are checked regularly for updates. Today there are a limited number of programs available this way. The format used is RSS 2.0 with enclosures.
In the future, radio shows like All Things Considered and Rush Limbaugh will be available in this manner, and perhaps other syndication formats will support enclosures.
